THE Exam!!(continued)
While most of the material required to pass th FE exam is covered in the video reviews by Texas A & M University provided in the last post. However, I did not find material on probability and distribution functions inspite of repeated searches online. I didnot want to leave any topic in the general section without going through atleast the basics which I decided 2 days before the exam. Luckily, I found the material which was concise, clear and just enough for the FE exam in my university's website at http://ef.engr.utk.edu/ef402-2008-08/statistics/ which they keep changing each semester. I shall post it on my website soon.

Apart from these classes, Micheal Lindeburbg's EIT review manual was a helpful resource. I however believe that the review videos by TAMU are the requisite while all others are supplemental. I suggest general exam during morning and afternoon sessions if you are comfortable with math, economics (math again), probability and statistics (math again!!!) and physics- statics, dynamics, fluid and thermal dynamics.

My experience:
I made sure I was good with the basics of every topic.I was confident with Math, economics, statics, fluids. However, I realised that I got confused with some of the terms during the exam and was blank especially statics(moment of bending etc...)
The morning session was a cake walk. I had all the time in the world to think about my favorite TV serials (which I had been restraining from watching to study for the exam), current political situation, my home, how happy I would be to tell my parents how well I did the exam and blah blah blah..... I still had an hour to look for answers for about 10 questions I had no idea at all. So I read the reference manual meticulously in the hope of finding answers. I finally gave up deciding to prepare for the afternoon session with the left over time.

Helpful sites and links for FE exam

The main objective of this blog is to provide information for applying and preparing for Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. The content of this blog is mostly based on my experience and would vary under different circumstances. Most of the information is for Electrical engineers. I intend to modify the blog as I gather more information.

FE:
Why would you want to get licensed?
If you work for designs that have to be approved by the State or National Governments.Building construction, architecture, machine designs etc. which are required to be approved for safety and public welfare should be designed by licensed Professional Engineers (PE).

The fundamentals of engineering exam is conducted by National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveying to test your understanding as en engineer. FE is the first step(but not necessary step) to becoming a PE. However, some states exempt FE for applicants with higher degrees (PhD.). Check this link for more information
http://www.ncees.org/licensure/licensure_for_engineers/
Conducted twice a year- in April and Oct.

The Exam!:
The following links are some of the best resources for FE general exam.
These lectures by TAMU are just what are sufficient to pass the general morning and afternoon sessions. I had copies of the lecture notes in pdf
